6/22/2010 - Dr. William Kennedy Named Hospice Co-Medical Director for Adventist Health Home Care ServicesPortland, Ore. -- Adventist Health Home Care Services has hired Dr. William Kennedy as hospice co-medical director to oversee, guide and assure quality care delivered by Adventist Health’s hospice and palliative care teams. As co-medical director, Kennedy shares these responsibilities with Dr. Scott Smith, Adventist Health hospice medical director. Kennedy is board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine. He completed his residency at Boston University and a palliative medicine fellowship at Mount Carmel Hospice and Palliative Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. "Dr. Kennedy’s depth of experience combined with his understanding and respect for end-of-life care are tremendous assets for Adventist Health’s hospice department,” said Carmen Cafferky, R.N. and administrative director for Adventist Health Home Care Services. “We are devoted to providing care that the community can have faith in throughout all stages of life. Our hospice and palliative care teams are among the best in the industry, and I am confident that with Dr. Kennedy’s leadership, we will continue to augment our already high standard of care.” Before joining Adventist Health, Kennedy most recently served as a hospice physician for Providence Hospice in Portland, Ore. His experience also includes positions ranging from physician and hospitalist to assistant medical director at healthcare facilities including: Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco, Mount Carmel Hospice in Columbus, Ohio, St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio, and HomeReach Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.
