3/9/2010 - Ukiah Valley Medical Center Receives Donation from Wal-Mart to Provide Infant Car Seats to New Parents in Need

Ukiah - Thanks to a $1,000 donation from the Wal-Mart Foundation, Ukiah Valley Medical Center’s (UVMC’s) Family Birth Center can now provide Department of Transportation–certified infant car seats to families in need for their baby’s first ride home.

“From time to time, families don’t have the means to provide a safe car seat for their newborns. In the past, obstetric nurses have pitched in to purchase them at Wal-Mart. This gave us the idea to ask Craig Davis, the manager at the Ukiah store to help,” says Deb Lowry, Director of Obstetrics. Mr. Davis indicated that he was more than willing to submit a request to the Wal-Mart Foundation, located in Bentonville, Arkansas, and a check was presented in January.

We are very grateful to Craig Davis for his advocacy on behalf of families in need in the Ukiah Valley.
