9/1/2009 - Life Line Screening Offer Stroke Screenings Sept. 16St. Helena Hospital is partnering with Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of community-based preventive screenings, to stop stroke and hip fractures in their tracks. A screening event will be held September 16 at the Grace Episcopal Church, 1314 Spring Street, in St. Helena. A special Wellness Package of five screenings is available for only $149 per person. The whole process takes less than an hour and includes painless, non-invasive tests for carotid artery disease, atrial fibrillation, abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, and osteoporosis screening These screenings are important because stroke strikes every 45 seconds and claims a life every three minutes. In fact, four out of five people who suffered a stroke showed no apparent warning signs prior to their attack. A simple screening may prevent death or disability. Osteoporosis related fractures strike an astonishing one out of every two women and one out of every four men aged 50 and over. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please contact Life Line Screening at www.lifelinescreening.com or call 1-800-690-0295 to make an appointment.
