7/1/2009 - AYSO takes over popular Movies in the Park series

The popular summer Movies in the Park series will continue this summer thanks to Redlands AYSO.

Because of budget cuts, the Recreation Bureau of the Redlands Police Department, which had hosted the weekly series of free summer films in Brookside and Texonia parks, was forced to discontinue the program after one movie showing last month.

Redlands AYSO, recognizing the value of the program, contacted the Recreation Bureau and offered to take over Movies in the Park.

AYSO will offer free movies every Friday for six weeks beginning July 10 at the Redlands Sports Park at Dearborn Street and San Bernardino Avenue. A full snack bar will be open to sell a variety of food and beverages.

The AYSO board agreed to pick up all direct costs of the program. Volunteers from the organization’s Cultural Exchange Team will do much of the work. Equipment will be provided by the Recreation Bureau.
