1/1/2009 - Bride and the CityBRIDE AND THE CITY Jason Rice If you passed by Something Blue on Sixth Street the evening of October 8th you might have wondered what celebrity had come to town. The white stretch limos were parked in front of the bejeweled bridal paperie, and beautifully dressed guests were seen mingling on the sidewalk, drinks in hand, amid twinkling lights and the sound of music. The guests of honor were actually brides attending Bride and the City, the appropriately named event which highlighted the best of what Redlands has to offer brides as they make plans for their big day. Guests were chauffeured from Something Blue on Sixth Street to Shake It Up Dance Studio on State Street, then off to Adair’s Photography and Time In A Bottle on Orange Street. At each stop participants were introduced to caterers, florists, bakers, photographers, travel services, stationery and musicians, just to name a few of the services featured at the beautifully decorated shops. Each guest was also given the chance to enter a drawing for a Dream Wedding Package. The week following the magical night Kelly Kuntz, a Redlands bride who’s wedding is planned for June 2009, received the call she was the grand prize winner. The night was not only a special time for guests but also for the hand selected businesses who participated. “The chance to work together as talented professionals and to support one another’s businesses was the icing on the wedding cake,” said Nancy Ternasky, owner of Something Blue and the coordinator of the event. Because the evening provided brides, or anyone planning a celebration, the chance to see the wealth of services in Redlands, and because it was such a huge success, another event is planned for late February 2009.
